Response to the Brief

The project "Mini Documentary" is build of three units.
1. Information and research in Art, Design and Media
2.Recording and Responding in Art, Design and Media
3.Experimentation with Materials and Processes in Art, Design and Media
The brief gives information of what the project includes and what is expected from me to include in my portfolio work as well as the work focused on creating the mini documentary.
From what I understood there is a list of tings that need to be covered. Those include:
1. Annotation of the client brief
2. research on documentaries and other forms that are needed within filming a documentary
3. Examples of the creative journey
4. The pitch, proposal and any other documents that show the idea development
5. Production paperwork
6. Shot/edit logs
7. Client feedback
8. Evaluation
The skills that I will gain throughout the project include:
1. in depth research
2. Understanding how to learn about the client
3. Develop ideas into the final outcome.
4. Knowing how to structure a documentary and the difference between different types of documentaries
5. Knowing how to cast
6. more experience in pre production work and preparing production paperwork
7. the lightning set up
8. more interview experience
9. comunication with the client and being able to introduce my ideas
The possible clients were:
1. Age Concern
2.Norwich for Jobs
3.Norwich Food Bank
4.John Crome (Norwich School of Painting)
Referring to the brief we are going to be put into separate groups that will be chosen basing on the treatment that we will write and present to the rest of the group.
We are expected to record all of our work from the planning to the final outcome and analyse it in our portfolios.
We are going to work with the client and produce a mini documentary for them. We will have to remain professional in our communications with the client, and accept their ideas and be able to present ours in a way that will encourage them to fit our propositions.
We will have to learn about all of the formats of documentaries and their conventions in order to be able to use our creativity to challenge those conventions and meet our client's expectations.
